Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

WALDORF, MD - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have announced that they have signed LHP Brian Burres, RHP Shaun Garceau, RHP Erik Hamren and RHP Sean Keeler to the 2015 roster.

Burres, and Hamren both bring Major League pitching experience to the 2015 Southern Maryland Club.

Brian Burres, 33, rejoins the Blue Crabs for the second straight season. His resume includes an extensive list of Major League experience that spanned over six seasons with three different teams. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 31st round of the 2000 amateur draft, the southpaw made his Major League debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2006. In six seasons, Burres appeared in 106 games at the Major League level for three teams, including the Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburg Pirates. In 2014, Burres went 3-2 with a 1.64 ERA in nine starts for the Blue Crabs.

Erik Hamren, 25, adds further Major League experience to the Blue Crabs roster. The left-hander pitched in 14 games out of the bullpen for the San Diego Padres in 2011. 2015 will mark the second time he is pitching in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB).

Garceau, was drafted in the 20th round by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2005. The Florida native climbed as high as Double-A Springfield in the Cardinals organization. Playing for the Long Island Ducks in 2014, Garceau ranked second in the ALPB with a career-high 13 wins in 27 games started while also striking out 117 hitters in 166 innings of work.

Entering his fifth season in independent baseball, Sean Keeler signs with the Blue Crabs after being traded to Southern Maryland from Trois-Rivieres of the Canadian American Association in 2014. Between the two clubs in 2014, he appeared in 43 games out of the bullpen.

"I'm very excited about the talent we have continually been able to gather on our roster," said Blue Crabs Manager Stan Cliburn. "Signing Burres and Hamren is huge for us because they have Major League pitching experience and know how to get guys out. When you add in Garceau, who was unhittable at times last year, and Keeler, who has been with our ball club before, I'm exciting with how our pitching staff is taking shape."
