Blue Jays Returning with Honda Super Camp July in Victoria

VICTORIA, B.C. - The Victoria HarbourCats Baseball Club and the Greater Victoria Baseball Association (GVBA) are once again pleased to team with the Toronto Blue Jays for the Honda Super Camp, slated for July 12-13 at Sports Traders Diamond at RAP.

The HarbourCats organization and Victoria's largest baseball association, the GVBA, will support the camps, which will be headlined by former Blue Jays greats - outfielder Devon White, second baseman Roberto Alomar, outfielder Brian McRae, second baseman Homer Bush and pitcher Tanyon Sturtze.

"Victoria had one of the best showings a year ago for participation in these great camps, held nation-wide by the Blue Jays, and we're very glad to have the Blue Jays returning to Victoria for 2015," said HarbourCats General Manager Jim Swanson.

"The Blue Jays are Canada's team, and they really step to the plate by doing these camps from coast to coast - Victoria, to Newfoundland, and points in between. To have kids her have the opportunity to learn from players who made it to the highest level is a great opportunity. Thank you in particular to Stephen Brooks and his team for the countless hours they put in to make these camps a reality and grow the game across Canada."

HarbourCats fans can get to the front of the line now by going on-line to purchase tickets for the 2015 season - that includes Opening Day (June 5), Father's Day (June 21), the added number of day games this season, and special Fireworks Games, slated for June 6, June 30, and August 3.

BLUE JAYS BASEBALL ACADEMY AND HONDA CANADA RELEASE SUPER CAMP AND INSTRUCTIONAL CLINIC SCHEDULE FOR 2015

For the 5th consecutive season, the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy will host bothBlue Jays Honda Super Camps and Blue Jays Honda Instructional Clinics across Canada this summer. These camps and clinics will target amateur baseball players ages 8-16 and will be run in partnership with both Baseball Canada and Little League Baseball Canada. The Blue Jays Baseball Academy is committed to helping develop and grow the game of baseball across Canada.

"As we embark on our fifth season of the Blue Jays Baseball Academy, we continue to grow and expand the quality and reach of this program. We are very pleased to continue our partnership with Baseball Canada and Little League Canada to promote participation in the game of baseball across Canada. The partnership has allowed the Blue Jays, Baseball Canada, and Little League Canada to provide players across the country with a level of instruction they can find nowhere else. Jays Care Foundation has generously created a $25,000 fund towards registration fees for 122 players to help remove financial barriers to participation. Also assisting is the Toronto Chapter of the Baseball Writers of America Association (BBWAA), who will donate registration fees for a select number of players.

Blue Jays Honda Super Camps :

The Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy will host 15 Blue Jays Honda Super Camps in all 10 Canadian provinces. Blue Jays Honda Super Camps are open to both male and female players aged 9 to 16. A large group of Blue Jays alumni once again return as instructors including Duane Ward, Roberto Alomar, Devon White, George Bell, Lloyd Moseby, Jesse Barfield, and Homer Bush. The Blue Jays alumni will be joined by both coaches from both Baseball Canada and Little League Canada to help provide top level instruction to each participant. New cities in 2015 include: Abbotsford, BC, Grand Prairie, AB, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, and Summerside, PEI, and Brandon, MB.

Blue Jays Honda Super Camps will run for 4 hours each day. Registration is now available on bluejays.com/camps and space is limited. Each participant will receive a Blue Jays hat, t-shirt, Blue Jays Baseball Academy Instructional Manual, along with a 12" Alomar Baseball glove.
