Mustangs Help Fuel Mexico over Germany at World Cup

March 22, 2015 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Chicago Mustangs News Release

Hoffman Estates, IL- The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.MASLSoccer.com), had 5 players and a coach participate for team Mexico in a 9-1 victory over team Germany in the opening game of the WMF World Cup.

Germany, whose country won the 2014 FIFA World Cup, came in with big aspirations to take home the 2015 WMF World Cup as well but got off to a rocky start against the high-octane offense of team Mexico.

The Mustangs' very own Wilo Martinez and Omar Santillan scored goals for Mexico, Wilo's coming early in the first quarter and Santillan's coming early in the 4th. Martinez also notched 2 assists and Bogar Moreno added an assist in the 4th quarter as well.

Damian Garcia had 3 points on 2 goals for Mexico and Byron Alvarez also tallied 2 goals in the contest. Goalie Bernardo Valdovinos wasn't tested much in net as Mexico's defense contained Germany's offense all night as Valdovinos only saw 5 shot attempts, stopping 4 of them.

Germany takes on India at 2pm at the Hartman Arena in Wichita, KS and then Mexico follows them at 4pm against Romania.
