Norfolk Admirals News Release

ALBANY, N.Y. - A single goal was all it took for the Admirals to snap an eight-game losing streak Wednesday evening, as they topped the Albany Devils, 1-0, at Times Union Center.

Nearly two periods passed before either team scored. A misplaced pass evaded Jaycob Megna, who corralled the puck behind his own zone and set up a breakout play. Megna advanced the puck all the way to the other end for icing if not for the swift skating of Stefan Noesen. Noesen grabbed it behind the Devils' net and executed a wraparound, stuffing the puck beneath the pads of Albany goaltender Scott Clemmensen. After a video review, Noesen's goal at 16:54 stood, with Rocco Carzo and Megna earning the helpers.

The last few minutes belonged to the Devils with Clemmensen pulled, but Jason LaBarbera and the Admirals' defense stood tall to hold on for the 1-0 win.

Clemmensen saved all but one of Norfolk's 26 shots, while LaBarbera fought off all of Albany's 35 shots for his third shutout of the year. The teams' penalty kills were perfect tonight, with the Devils scoreless on five power-play opportunities and the Admirals going 0-for-3.

Three Stars:

1) NOR #1 Jason LaBarbera (35 saves)

2) ALB #40 Scott Clemmensen (25 saves)

3) NOR #11 Stefan Noesen (GWG)

NOTES ... Tonight was the first professional game of Brandon Montour, who was signed to an ATO yesterday ... It was Rocco Carzo's first AHL point ... The tilt's 1-0 decision was the first of the Admirals' 2014-15 season.
