Skeeters Ink Barton and Martin for 2015

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS - The Sugar Land Skeeters and manager Gary Gaetti are excited to announce the signing of outfielder Brian Barton and pitcher Adrian Martin. With the resigning of Barton, the Skeeters currently return seven players from last year's squad that posted an 80-60 record and advanced to the Atlantic League Championship Series.

Barton, 32, returns to Constellation Field after joining the squad midway through the 2014 season. The outfielder appeared in 68 games while hitting at .294. The California native racked up 17 extra base hits a year ago while driving in 37. A 10-year veteran, Barton hit right at his career average of .294 and is four home runs away from 100 in his minor league career. Additionally, the outfielder serves as a dangerous threat on the basepaths with 189 career steals. A Rule-5 draft selection in 2007, Barton spent the 2008-09 seasons in the big leagues with the Cardinals. In the show, he hit for a .268 average with nine doubles, two triples and two long balls.

Martin, 30, joins the Skeeters after sitting out the 2014 season. Most recently, he played for the Camden Riversharks during 2013. Overall the right-hander owns a 52-28 record with 77 saves and a 3.34 ERA over 693.0 innings. He has posted back-to-back-to-back seasons with at least 19 saves. In his 10 seasons of minor league ball, Martin has struck out 530 while walking just 121. A 19th-round selection by Toronto in the 2003 draft out of South Fork HS in Stuart, FL, Martin advanced as high as AAA with the Blue Jays in 2009.
