Windsor Express News Release

(MISSISSAUGA, ON) The Windsor Express are back in the Central Conference Finals after a 107-102 victory in Mississauga on Tuesday night, winning the series 3-games-to-1.

Three Windsor players scored 20-plus points as the Express finally shook the pesky Power off their backs and advanced to the next round.

The game had many hills and valleys for Windsor, who jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the opening quarter but saw their leads vanish three separate times, with Mississauga closing out the quarter leading 30-27.

Windsor took the lead back at the half way mark of the quarter, and built up a lead that peaked at 19 points, before settling for a 58-45 lead at the break, after the Power scored four points in the final 9 seconds of the half.

It didn't take long for the Power to erase that deficit in the third and take a lead of their own, jumping out on a 16-2 run to start the second half to grab a 61-60 advantage.

The game swayed back and forth throughout the third until Windsor's 11-0 run lifted them to an 81-71 lead after three quarters.

Mississauga, however, would not go away and, with a last gasp, pulled out a 15-3 push, tying the game at 100-100 with an Omar Strong three pointer with 1:05 left in the contest.

The next two plays were crucial, as Windsor's Chris Commons slid home a layup, followed up by a Ryan Anderson steal and dunk, putting the Express ahead by four and sealing the victory.

Commons led Windsor with 28 points, while Quinnel Brown had 26 - scoring eight straight points for the Express in the third - and Tony Bennett added 22 points of his own.

Windsor's victory means they will face the winner of Saturday's winner-take-all Game 5 between the Brampton A's and the London Lightning.

Game 1 and Game 2 of that series will be played at the WFCU Centre in Windsor on Thursday, March 26th and Saturday, March 28th, respectively.

Both games will start at 7:00pm.

Tickets for Game 1 and Game 2 of the Conference Finals will be on sale on Wednesday, March 18th, starting at 10:00am and are available online at www.windsorexpress.ca or by phone at 519-800-3665.

They can also be purchased at the TekSavvy.com Box Office inside the WFCU Centre or at www.wfcu-centre.com.
