Kitchener Rangers News Release

Freshman Connor Bunnaman scored his tenth of the year for the Kitchener Rangers in a 3-2 loss to the Guelph Storm on Tuesday night. David Miller also recorded a goal for the Rangers, his 11th point in his last six games.

The Rangers took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period. Guelph native Connor Bunnaman picked up a rebound in front of the Storm net, taking advantage of an out-of-position Justin Nichols to pot his tenth of the season and second in three games. The rookie has three goals in the season series with the Storm. Dylan DiPerna earned the lone assist on the goal at 12:07.

Kitchener outshot Guelph 12-8 in the opening 20 minutes.

David Miller put the Rangers up by a pair early in the second period, capitalizing on a power play opportunity. The former Greyhounds forward picked up Max Iafrate's sharp pass from the point, snapping it by Nichols for his 20th of the season. Miller has 11 points in his last six games including goals in back-to-back meetings with Guelph. Rookie Adam Mascherin was credited with the second assist, his fifth point in six outings.

The Storm hit the scoreboard less than four minutes later, cutting their deficit in half. Tyler Bertuzzi connected with import forward Pius Suter, who bounced a shot off the glove of Rangers starter Jake Paterson for his 40th of the year. Defenceman Noah Carroll also assisted on the play.

Guelph led shots on goal 10-9 in the middle frame.

The Storm pulled even at 2-2 with less than ten minutes to play. Ryan Foss forced a turnover at his own blueline and fired a shot that was redirected past Paterson by James McEwan. The goal was the sophomore winger's third of the year.

McEwan collected his second point of the night with an assist on Guelph's game winner, setting up Chris Marchese in the slot. The overager fired a quick shot past Paterson to record his 17th of the season, putting the Storm ahead 3-2 with 2:25 to play. Garrett McFadden also picked up an assist on the tally.

The Storm led shots on goal 19-11 in the third and finished with a 37-32 overall advantage.
