Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis Earns CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

North Charleston, S.C. - South Carolina Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 9-15. It is the second time this season, and the seventh time in his career that Jakaitis has won the weekly honor, extending his own league record.
Jakaitis, 31, went 2-0-0 with two shutouts last week, helping the Stingrays extend their ECHL-record winning streak to 19 games. The Rochester, Minnesota, native made 19 saves in a 4-0 win at Gwinnett on Friday and turned aside all 21 shots he faced in a 6-0 victory against the Gladiators on Saturday. He has not allowed a goal in 259:32, which is in ECHL record, and he has posted shutouts in three consecutive games for the second time in his career, tying the league record. Jakaitis leads the league with five shutouts this season and his 21 career shutouts are second all-time.
In 30 appearances this season, Jakaitis is 20-7-2, is second in the ECHL with a 1.96 goals-against average and third with a .924 save percentage. Over an eight-year professional career, Jakaitis has appeared in 196 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia posting an overall record of 104-60-24.
The Stingrays are giving away "Southern Charm" Shep Rose bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, March 20 as the Stingrays take on the Indy Fuel at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum!
