Ice Bears Shoot out Win over IceGators

Knoxville, TN - Bryan Hince entertained an engaging crowd of 4,138 turned aside all five IceGators attempts in the shootout en route to 3-2 Knoxville Ice Bears' win over the Louisiana.

The Knoxville Ice Bears and the Louisiana IceGators both failed to score in overtime, but Knoxville won the game 3-2 (1-0 SO) afterRyan Salvis's deciding goal in the shootout.

The Ice Bears overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Knoxville fell behind 2-1 after a goal by Louisiana'sShawn McNeilat 15:53 in the second period. The Ice Bears tied things up at 2-2 on a goal byDennis Sicardat 16:58 in the third period.

Jake Johnsonalso scored for Knoxville. More assists for Knoxville came viaRobbie Donahoe,Sy Nutkevitch, andLou Educate, who each chipped in one.

The IceGators put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Ice Bears to score on any of their five power plays. The 31 shots that Louisiana put on net surpassed the IceGators' average of 18.8 shots per game this season.

Louisiana was helped byJake Hauswirth, who tallied one goal. Hauswirth scored 3:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1.Jeremy Boyerpicked up the assist. In addition, Louisiana received assists fromDan CornellandBrian Berger, who contributed one each.

Bryan Hince made 29 saves for Knoxville on 31 shots. The Ice Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.Marco De Filipporecorded 23 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
