AMARILLO, TX - For the first time in over a month the Amarillo Bulls are within one point of a playoff spot in the South Division.

Two goals less than a minute apart propelled the Bulls to their fifth straight win and third consecutive on home ice as they dumped the Wenatchee Wild 3-2 at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Bulls now have two more wins than the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and one more than the Wild in the South. A sixth straight win by the Bulls on Saturday night would move them into a playoff position with just two weekends remaining in the regular season.

Kyle Hartman, Cody Gylling and Tristan Rostagno scored for Amarillo while goaltender Anton Martinsson turned aside 34 of 36 shots he faced. Rostagno's goal was the game winner midway through the third period as the Bulls pulled their goaltender on a delayed penalty call. The big defenseman wired a shot past Michael Bullion as the Bulls applied tremendous pressure inside the Wild zone.

It was a slow start to the game for the Amarillo Bulls as they let Wenatchee dictate pace in the first period. The Wild scored the period's lone goal off a turnover by the Bulls behind the net. The best chance for the Bulls was by the forward line of George Mika, Luke Novak and Cody Gylling but they were denied by goaltender Michael Boullion. The Wild outshot the Bulls 10-5 in the first period.

The second period didn't start much better for the Bulls as the Wild silenced the crowd with a second goal on a shot from the face-off circle to make it 2-0. But after that Amarillo got rolling and quickly brought the big crowd back into the game. After a shot grazed the goal post the Bulls were able to keep the puck in at the blue line. Kyle Hartman fired a shot that deflected off of several sticks and skates and slipped in behind goaltender Michael Bullion to cut the deficit to a goal. Wenatchee again had the edge in shots 16-8 in the second period.

The end of the stanza appeared to have fired up Jon Rogger's charges as they were able to control much of the play. Charlie Combs had a blast from inside the bluel ine turned aside by the young goaltender. Cody Gylling tied the game at the 9:16 mark when his blast beat Bullion. Jesper Synnelius and Luke Novak earned assists on the play. Less than a minute later the Wild were to be called for a penalty. The Bulls pulled their goaltender and kept the puck in at the line. Tristan Rostagno's hard shot gave the Bulls the lead they would'nt relinquish. Will Harrison and AJ Duggan picked up helpers on the play.

Down the stretch it was the Bulls solid defensively play and timely goaltending from Anton Martinsson to preserve the lead. Amarllo outshot Wenatchee 15-10 in the third period. It was the Wild that controlled the final shot total 36-28.

For the fourth straight game the Bulls penalty killing was solid preventing Wenatchee from scoring on four attempts. The Bulls managed one power play goal on four chances.
