Grizzlies Open Trip with 8-3 Win in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California - The Utah Grizzlies (30-22-5-3) defeated the Bakersfield Condors 8-3 Friday night at Rabobank Arena.

Brendan Walker, in his Grizzlies debut, had five points on two goals and three assists after being acquired from Gwinnett on Monday.

Eric Levine improve to 2-1 in the ECHL this year as he stopped 39 of 42 Bakersfield shots, including the first 25 he saw in his Grizzlies debut as starting goaltender Igor Bobkov had a scheduled night off.

The Grizzlies led 3-0 after one period as they scored three goals in 3:55 late in the period with Mathieu Aubin (22), Walker (16) and Jacob Johnston (9) scoring.

Utah made it 4-0 in the second period on Ryan Hayes 24th of the year as he extended his scoring streak to a Utah season-high ten-straight games. Brendan Walker's second of the game on the power-play made it 5-1 an even three minutes after the Condors got on the board.

Utah scored three-straight goals to finish the game after Bakersfield made it 5-3 on the power-play 4:34 into the third period on Syner's 14th of the year, Johnston's second of the game and Hardowa's fifth of the year.

Shots in the game were even at 42. Utah went three for three on the power-play and four for five on the penalty-kill.

Seven Grizzlies had multiple-point nights in the game including Walker's five point night and Mathieu Aubin with one goal and one assist, Connor Hardowa (one goal, one assist), Alex Krushelnyski (two assists), Steve MacIntyre (two assists), Jacob Johnston (two goals and one assist) and T.J. Syner's one goal and one assist.

Bakersfield started the game with former University of Utah goaltender Peter Gibb who made his professional debut, but he was replaced by Emergency Backup Goaltender Garrett Taylor to start the second period due to injury.
