Final Five Names Released in Hartford Baseball Name the Team Contest

Hartford, CT- The new professional baseball club moving to Hartford has scheduled a press conference on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30 PM at the Wilson-Gray YMCA (444 Albany Ave, Hartford) to unveil its new name. The city of Hartford is set to begin a new chapter of minor league baseball in April of 2016, and the selection committee has narrowed down nearly 6,000 entries to a Final Five. The contestants who submitted the Final Five names will be at the press conference along with kids from the Wilson-Gray YMCA Youth & Family Center's After School Program. Over the past week, more than 35,000 ballots were submitted on the website www.hartfordplaysball2016.com as fans had the opportunity to pick their top three choices. All media is welcome to cover the event.

The "Name the Team Contest" officially kicked off at the Hartford Ballpark groundbreaking ceremony on February 17th. For the first time in more than 60 years, professional baseball will be played in Hartford. The spectacular new venue will anchor the redevelopment of Downtown North, and will sit between two major highways, I-84 and I-91. The new ballpark is set to open in April of 2016 for the start of the Minor League Baseball season.
