Sam Steel and Jesse Gabrielle lead the Pats with four points each in six games against the Broncos. Jake DeBrusk has been the top player in the series, posting 12 points (5G, 7A) against Regina in five games. The Pats having dropped two in a row including last night's 5-3 loss in Prince Albert. Lead Up: McBride the Difference in Pats 5-3 Loss to Raiders
The Pats fired 25 shots at Nick McBride, and that was just the third period. Overall the Blue and White tallied 58 shots through sixty minutes Tuesday night, but McBride turned away 55 of them. At the other end, the Raiders capitalized on their chances, building up a 4-0 lead through forty minutes. The Pats came back with goals from Adam Brooks, Braden Christoffer and Pavel Padakin, but fell short with Reid Gardiner sealing the game on an empty netter in a 5-3 loss.
Captain Christoffer
Braden Christoffer is finishing off his WHL regular season career with a bang. The over-age forward scored for the fourth straight game last night in Prince Albert. He has five goals over that stretch for 25 on the season which eclipses his previous two seasons combined.
Finishing Strong
It's no secret the Pats' third period is consistently their best, but where do they rank with the rest of the league? The Pats have scored 97 third period goals this season, which is third to only Brandon (111) and Kelowna (102). When it comes to allowing goals, the Pats have surrendered 63 in the final frame which is fourth behind Edmonton, Everett and Kelowna.
Injury Bug
The Pats' offence lost a key cog with Sam Steel leaving last night's game with a lower body injury. Steel is second in the WHL's rookie scoring race with 54 points (17G, 37A) in 61 games this season. The Pats hope to have another key forward back in the lineup soon with Austin Wagner now listed day-to-day.
