Calgary Hitmen News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club would like to congratulate centre Adam Tambellini on signing an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers.

"It's an exciting day for me and my family," said Tambellini. "Getting an NHL deal was something I was hoping for this year and I'm really happy they came knocking. Hopefully I can carry this confidence I'm getting from signing into the playoffs and go on a good run with the Hitmen."

Tambellini, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 65th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. Playing in his final Western Hockey League season, the 20-year-old forward ranks fourth in the WHL in goals (45) and leads the Hitmen with 79 points in 65 games. He joined Calgary at the 2014 WHL Trade Deadline and recorded 39 points, including 17 goals, in 31 games during his rookie campaign.

"On behalf of the Hitmen organization, I would like to congratulate Adam on signing a pro contract with the New York Rangers," said Mike Moore, Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations. "Since his arrival to the Western Hockey League, Adam has experienced significant development both as a player and individual that has led to a professional contract. His leadership qualities and commitment to excellence has certainly been a major influence on the success of the Calgary Hitmen this season."

Tambellini and the Hitmen wrap up the club's longest road trip in franchise history, an 11-game swing, with stops in Red Deer (Mar. 13) and Lethbridge (Mar. 14). Calgary's next home game is Sunday, Mar. 15 at 4:00 p.m. against the Hurricanes.
