Adam Courchaine Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Adam Courchaine of the Mississippi RiverKings is the Easton Player of the Week for March 2-8.

Courchaine went 2-0-0, posting a 2.00 goals-against average and .955 save percentage as he helped the RiverKings move into a tie for second place in the SPHL standings.

The Kanata, Ontario native made 37 saves in a 7-2 win over Huntsville on Tuesday and then followed that up with a stellar performance Saturday against first-place Peoria, making 23 saves in the second period alone and 48 overall in a 3-2 win. Courchaine stopped 41 shots over the final two periods as the RiverKings were outshot 43-22.

Now in his fourth professional season and first with the RiverKings, Courchaine helped lead the ECHL's Alaska Aces to the 2011 Kelly Cup Championship. Courchaine went 17-7-1-1 during the regular season that year, posting a 2.39 goals-against average and was named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for February. He has seven career American?Hockey League games with Providence, going 2-1-0 with a 2.06 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
