What an unbelievable night it was on Saturday March 7^th at the CN Centre. The Prince George Cougars and Victoria Royals battled it out for 65-plus minutes in one of the most riveting hockey game we've seen at the CN Centre in quite some time. On the night where his late mother Shelly was honored, Tyler Mrkonjic scored a goal late in the second period which helped kick-start the Cougars comeback. In addition to the drama on the ice, the excitement off-ice was equally thrilling.

To start the evening off, Prince George Cougars President Greg Pocock personally purchased $25,000 worth of 50/50 tickets to kick off the record-setting jackpot. The plan all along was to start the 50/50 pot at $25,000 with half the evening's entire 50/50 proceeds going towards supporting a worthwhile cause that hits close to home and supports the Mrkonjic family.

All of the tickets purchased by Greg Pocock were distributed to people at the game free of charge. Strips of $10 tickets were given to adult season ticket holders, volunteers, parents, billets, building staff and supporters of the Mrkonjic family. Additionally single 50/50 tickets were distributed to all other adults attending the game.

The support from our fans who wished to purchase additional 50/50 tickets was so overwhelming, that we had to stop ticket sales so that our machines were able to handle and process the vast amount of tickets requested. We printed nearly 84,000 50/50 tickets on Saturday which is completely unprecedented for Prince George.

"We were completely and literally overwhelmed with the response from our fans on Saturday," said Prince George Cougars Vice President of Business, Andy Beesley. "The amount of people wanting to add to the 50/50 pot went above and beyond what our system could handle. But I can assure you that every single ticket purchased was printed and in the draw barrel for our draw. Apart from the delay in the draw, the evening was a complete success and further validation of the amazing support from our fans. All I can say is that from all of us involved with the Prince George Cougars, thank you!"

The Prince George Cougars would like to recognize the Prince George Cougars 50/50 Society for their tireless efforts and their assistance during this record-setting 50/50 draw.
