LAFAYETTE, LA. (March 8, 2015) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers lose a tough one in Louisiana as they fell to the Ice Gators with a final score of 3-2 Sunday afternoon in front of the 1,311 at the Cajundome.

The scoring began late in the opening period when Adam Pawlick fought off Louisiana's Shawn McNeil and managed to rip a backhander past Marco De Filippo's glove hand to make it 1-0 in favor of Pensacola.

2:04 into the second period, Chris Wilson tipped in a pass from Adam Stuart to even the game at one. Shortly after a double-minor to Corey Banfield for high sticking gave Louisiana the chance to take the lead. Nineteen seconds into their power play, a slapshot from Kirk Byczynski found the back of the net through traffic to give the Ice Gators the 2-1 lead at the 3:11 mark. Pensacola managed to kill the remaining two minutes on the double minor.

Nearing the end of the second, a 2-on-1 developed for Pensacola's Jon Puskar who passed over to Nick Larson for a one-timer into an open net to even the game back up at two.

Just past the midway point of the final period, Louisiana would take advantage of a 5-on-3 power play as Jake Hauswirth put the Ice Gators back in the lead. Max Strang was pulled from the net for the extra attacker with 1:37 remaining but the Ice Flyers effort to tie the game back up fell short as time ran out.

SOG were in favor of Pensacola 23 to 18.

With the loss, the Ice Flyers hold a record of 26-15-6 for 58 points and remain in a three-way tie for second with the Cottonmouths and Riverkings.

The Ice Flyers will be back on the road to take on the Columbus Cottonmouths on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. You can watch live at Beef O Brady's in downtown Pensacola or 9 Mile Road. All away games are also available online at SPHLLive.com.
