The Saginaw Spirit traveled to J.D. McArthur Arena for a Western Conference match up to face the Owen Sound Attack. Saginaw fell to Owen Sound 5-2.
The first period scoring started off early as Owen Sound Attack's Thomas Schemitsch got a shot past Saginaw Spirit's starting goal tender Evan Cormier at 3:28 of the period. Assisting him was Erik Bradford and Daniel Milne. Shots on goal for the first were in Owen Sound's favor 16-2.
Owen Sound came out fast once again in the second period to take their lead to 2-0 over Saginaw as Schemitsch tallied his second goal of the night at 4:06. Jonah Gadjovich and Keenan Reynolds were credited with the assists. 16:06 into the second, Saginaw's Dylan Sadowy cut into the Attack's lead, his 40th goal of the season, with Blake Clarke and Mitchell Stephens assisting the goal. Both teams headed to their lock room with shots on goal tied at 11, and the Attack leading 2-1.
Jacob Busch was able to score 11 seconds into the third with a pass by Daniel Milne to extend Owen Sound's lead to 3-1, yet Sadowy was there once again to cut into the Attack's lead making the score read 3-2. Sadowy's 41st goal of the season came 12:24 into the third with assists by Marcus Crawford and Jesse Barwell. The Attack's Daniel Milne with a pass by Holden Cook restored their two-goal lead once again with the goal coming at 16:05 of the third. Owen Sound's Cook scored in the empty net at 19:31 of the third to ice the game and take the win over Saginaw 5-2. Final shots on goal read Owen Sound 44, Saginaw 23.

The Saginaw Spirit finish their weekend road trip at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium against the Kitchener Rangers, Sunday afternoon, March 8th at 2:00 p.m. The following Friday, Saginaw will travel to Sarnia to take on the Sting at the RBC Centre with a face-off time of 7:05 p.m. Saginaw returns home to the Dow Event Center on March 14th to host the Plymouth Whalers.
