Saginaw Spirit News Release

The Saginaw Spirit faced off against the Plymouth Whalers for some Thursday night hockey at Compuware Arena. This is the sixth meeting between the two teams, as Saginaw outscored Plymouth 4-1. Dylan Sadowy recorded his second hat trick of his OHL career.

After 20 minutes of play Saginaw and Plymouth were tied at one. Plymouth's Yannick Rathgeb went to the box for tripping and Saginaw's Dylan Sadowy capitalized off of the opportunity 16:01 into the period, scoring his 37th goal of the season, with assists from Devon Paliani and Marcus Crawford. Eight seconds later, Plymouth's Sonny Milano tied up the score at one with an unassisted goal. Both teams went into the locker room with shots on goal reading Saginaw 14, Plymouth 10.

Saginaw came out in the second period strong, outshooting Plymouth 3-0 only five minutes into the period. Jesse Barwell found the back of the net for the Spirit 8:03 into the second, his ninth goal of the season, advancing the Spirit lead to 2-1. Vladislav Kodola had lone assist. It was a superb period for Saginaw as they outshot Plymouth 11-3 for the second.

The Spirit brought the momentum from the second period into the third where Dylan Sadowy scored his second of the night, his 38th of the season, to extend Saginaw's lead over Plymouth to 3-1. Keaton Middleton had the lone assist. Sadowy came right back at Whalers goaltender Alex Nedelijkovic with a short-handed goal, his 39th of the season, to complete the hat trick at 13:01 of the third. This is Sadowy's second OHL career hat trick. Plymouth was unable to respond to Sadowy's goal, so Saginaw finished out the night with the score reading 4-1. Final shots on goal read Saginaw 39, Plymouth 23.
