Wolves Drop 7-1 Decision to IceDogs

March 4, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Wolves welcomed the Niagara IceDogs for the last midweek game of the season Tuesday night. This was the fifth time these two have met and this time it was the IceDogs who ran away with the contest with a 7-1 final.

Both teams got off to a slow start in the first as neither team hit the back of the net until 15 minutes into the period. CARTER VERHAEGHE opened up the scoring giving the IceDogs the 1-0 lead. The lead did not last as PAVEL JENYS scored for the Wolves to tie things up. JOSH HO-SANG added a late goal in the first as the IceDogs reclaimed the lead heading into the dressing room.

The IceDogs exploded offensively in the second period scoring four goals in the frame to finish the second up 6-1. Emotions boiled over as REAGAN O'GRADY and JOHNNY CORNEIL dropped the mitts and mixed it up. The period ended with a late hit causing frustrations from both teams at the end of the period.

It did not get much better for the Wolves in the third period as GRAHAM KNOTT added his third of the night to make it 7-1. That would do it for the Wolves as they fell by a final of 7-1 with shots on goal 38-21 in favour of Niagara.

It's a double-header weekend as the Wolves host the Belleville Bulls on Friday at 7:30PM and the North Bay Battalion for the annual Vale Sudbury Saturday Night at 7:00PM. Tickets for both contests can be purchase at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling 705-671-3000 or online at www.greatersudbury.ca.
