Chad Costello Named ECHL Player of the Week

Allen Texas - The ECHL announced today, that for the second time this season, Allen Americans forward Chad Costello has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for February 23rd -March 1st.

Costello had three goals and added four assists for the week, leading the Americans to a 2-0-1 record in three games, including two road victories.

The native of Johnston, Iowa, has won the Player of the Week award two times this season. Costello has also been named ECHL Player of the Month this season, as well as Plus Performer of the Month.

"Not surprised Chad is Player of the Week," said Allen Americans Head Coach and General Manager Steve Martinson. "He has been consistent for us all season, and one of the top players in the league."

Costello has 92 points in 54 games for Allen (29 g, 63 a). He has a 30 point lead over second place; Drew Fisher of Tulsa, who has 62 points in 51 games.

On behalf of Chad Costello, a case of pucks will be donated to an Allen youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 31,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The Americans are back in action on Friday night in Quad City, as Allen resumes a six-game road trip. The Americans have won five straight games away from Allen Event Center.
