Timbers Midfielder Ben Zemanski Undergoes Successful Surgery

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers midfielder Ben Zemanski underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee - an injury sustained in Portland's preseason match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Feb. 22 - it was announced today.

The procedure was performed Monday by Timbers chief medical officer Dr. Kevin Murphy at Sports Medicine Oregon in Tigard, Ore. Zemanski will begin rehabilitation immediately with Timbers sports medicine staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center. He is expected to miss at least five months.

Zemanski, 26, is in his sixth MLS season and his third with the Timbers in 2015. In 2014, Zemanski appeared in 13 league matches (7 starts), while also registering a goal and an assist in three appearances (3 starts) in 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League play. Zemanski made his debut with Portland during the 2013 season, appearing in 25 matches (9 starts) during the regular season, scoring one goal and registering two assists.
