Minnesota Magicians News Release
Weekend Recap:
The Magicians had a two game series against the Coulee Region Chill at Richfield Ice Arena this past weekend. On Friday, the teams treated fans to a back and forth contest that was left unsettled through a 5-minute overtime session. Magicians forwards Kane Durment and Lukas Laub scored in the shootout, and goaltender Vaughan Ahrens allowed only one shootout goal to preserve the win, a key victory for the team.
On Saturday, the Magicians continued to put the puck in the net and eventually outlasted the Chill once again for their third straight victory over their foes from the La Crosse, Wisconsin. With the sweep, the Magicians inched closer to the fourth and final Midwest Division playoff spot. They now sit 9 points above the Kenai River Brown Bears in the standings with only 10 games left in the regular season.
Saturday was also the Magician's Military Appreciation Night featuring Defending the Blue Line, an organization dedicated to providing the children of military members with an opportunity to play the game of hockey. During the game, the Magicians wore specially made camouflage jerseys in honor of the United States Armed Forces. The jerseys were auctioned away following the game, and all proceeds from the auction will be used to benefit Defending the Blue Line.
