Mavericks Best Mallards 3-2 in Shootout

INDEPENDENCE, MO (March 1, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks finished their weekend series against the Quad City Mallards with a 3-2 shootout victory in Moline, IL. Net minder Josh Robinson made thirty-five saves through sixty-five minutes between the pipes for Missouri, and blocked all four shootout attempts by the Mallards.

The Mallards were first to strike at 16:16 of the first period, unassisted, to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

Missouri made their move in the second period, recording seventeen shots on goal and notching two power play goals. Landon Oslanski tied the game 1-1 at 6:50 of the frame, with assists from Jack Downing and Josh Brittain. Pearce Eviston split the Mavs goals to give the lead back to Quad City at 10:18 with their own power play tally, before Sebastien Thinel got the equalizer at 12:15 for a 2-2 game that would last through the end of regulation. Assists on Thinel's power play goal were credited to Oslanski and Downing.

When sixty minutes of hockey couldn't determine a winner, the game decision headed to a five-minute overtime, that also ended in a stalemate.

Jack Downing and Josh Brittain connected on the shootout to best Evan Mosher in goal for Quad City in the shootout, and Josh Robinson stopped all four attempts by the Mallards to secure the 3-2 win for Missouri.

The Mavericks play their next three games at home, beginning with a Tuesday night contest on Mar. 3 at 7:05p.m. at Independence Events Center.
