A's Conclude Regular Season with Victory over Express

February 28, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release

WINDSOR, On.- The Brampton A's traveled to Windsor to take on the Express in a playoff ranking bearing match-up. In a balanced offensive attack, the A's defeated the Express 112-99 Saturday night for their sixth straight victory. This battle concludes the A's 2014-15 regular season, as they sit at an overall record of 18-14.

The A's hit the hardwood with a chip on their shoulders. Their mission was to leave with a victory to solidify home court advantage against the London Lightning for first round playoff action. The two teams were neck and neck for the majority of the first stint. The A's managed to lock down defensively as the second quarter progressed, making it difficult for their opponents to grasp its rhythm. After capitalizing on both ends of the court, the A's found themselves with a 10 point lead at the half.

Cavell Johnson led Brampton with 11 points heading in to the locker room.

The second half mirrored the conclusion of the second quarter for the A's, as they remained in control of the game. Brampton jumped out to a 20 point lead at one point before the Express went on a little run. Aggression in the paint allowed the A's free throw opportunities to keep the defending champs at bay.

Kyle Johnson recorded a team-high 19 points, while Cavell and Zane Johnson added 15 points apiece. Ashton Smith registered a double-double of 11 points and 11 assists.

Next, the A's will host the London Lightning in game one of the 2014-15 NBL Canada Playoffs. The two teams meet again following a heartbreaking series last year for the A's against their nemesis. The battle will take place on Saturday, March 7th at the Powerade Centre with a 7pm tip. For tickets please contact, tickets@bramptonas.ca.
