Quad City Mallards News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (February 27, 2015) - Parker Milner made 29 saves and Pearce Eviston- who also had an assist- Mario Lamoureux and Darren McMillan provided the Q uad City Mallard goals as the Mallards (27-21-6) blanked the host Missouri Mavericks (20-27-5) 3-0 Friday night.

The Mallards were up 5-on-3 when Eviston pounced on a rebound to open the scoring at 8:36 of the second period.

At 7:37 of the third period Lamoureux doubled the Mallard lead with a wrist shot from the left wing circle.

After the Mavericks pulled goaltender Josh Robinson (39 saves) late in the third for an extra attacker, the Mallards capped off the win with an awarded goal. Todd Fiddler was prevented from putting the puck in the empty Missouri net via illegal means by the Mavericks' Martin Lee with a minute and four seconds left in the contest and because Lee's infraction would have produced a Quad City penalty shot had the Mavs' not pulled the netminder, by a rule a goal was awarded to McMillan, the last Mallard to touch the puck. The goal was the two hundredth point of Mallard captain McMillan's career.

Milner stopped 10 shots in each of the first two periods before turning aside nine in the third.

Earlier Friday, the Mallards waived forward Evan Haney.
