Dubuque, IA - The Bloomington Thunder head to Dubuque in a crucial United States Hockey league battle with the Fighting Saints Friday night. The Thunder face off with the Saints at 7:35 pm CST from the Mystique Ice Center seeking their 21st win of the season.

Game Notes

Tied for fifth place with 47 points and a 20-19-7 record, the Thunder are still alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race with 14 games to play. Dubuque sits two spots above the Thunder with 56 points and a 26-13-4 record, but also have three games in hand on Bloomington.

Leading scorer Matt Mendelson (Penn State University) will finish the month of February with one of his top performances of his USHL career. The Pittsburgh, PA native has scored ten points (2g, 8a) in the shortened month, which the Thunder have only played seven games. Also turning up the heat for the Thunder is goaltender Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan). While the netminder has lost his last two starts, he is 3-2-0 in the month with a .910 SVPT and a 2.23 GAA. He also earned a six-game win streak from January 23rd to February 13th.

Dubuque fell in their last game 1-0 to the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders but grabbed four of six points in a three-in-three last weekend. The game is the final of a four game season series between the Thunder and the Fighting Saints where Dubuque is 3-0-0. The scoring attack is led by Seamus Malone (University of Wisconsin) with 42 points (15g, 27a). The three-year USHL vet is ranked second in the league with a +22 rating despite being 17th in the scoring race. Goaltender Jacob Nehama is putting up a case for USHL Goaltender of the year with his 19-9-4 record, third ranked 2.33 GAA, and .913 SVPT. However, the Allen, TX native is just 2-4-0 in his last six starts.
