Connecticut Re-Signs Kayla Pedersen

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (February 26, 2015) - The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed 6-foot-4 center Kayla Pedersen. Connecticut has also signed Alyssia Brewer, a 6-foot-3 center.

As per team policy, terms were not released.

Pedersen appeared in 31 games for Connecticut last season with one start, collecting 72 rebounds and 45 points. A first-round (seventh overall) draft pick of the Tulsa Shock in 2011, Pedersen was traded to the Sun midway through the 2013 season in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft. In 125 career games, Pedersen has averaged 3.9 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Brewer played her first three seasons at Tennessee before transferring to UCLA for her final season of college basketball. She led the Bruins in rebounds (5.4 rpg), and was second in scoring average (11.1 ppg) and steals (1.3 spg) in 2012-13. As a sophomore at Tennessee, she averaged 10.2 points and 5.9 rebounds, won SEC Sixth Woman honors and was the SEC Tournament MVP. She underwent surgery for a torn Achilles tendon in September of 2010, and appeared in 20 games during her junior year. Brewer was invited to Los Sparks training camp in 2013 and 2014. She was last waived by the Sparks on May 12, 2014.
