Tight Game Turns in Utah's Favor

Stockton Thunder News Release

West Valley City, UT - Garet Hunt continues his steady climb up the Stockton Thunder all-time points list with his 10th goal of the season, bringing the captain within one point of tying the record; however, it is the lone goal the Thunder are able to manage as the Utah Grizzlies defeat the Thunder 4-1 Wednesday night at the Maverik Center. Thunder goaltender Kent Simpson played extremely well, but he was bested by Utah goaltender Igor Bobkov, who stood on his head and made it difficult for the Thunder to score on their high quality opportunities throughout the game. The Thunder and the Grizzlies will square off again Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. PST as the Thunder will look to bounce back in what will be the second game of a seven-game road trip.

Quotes

"I was a little bit rusty and a little frustrated with how the game went. We were outplaying them through the first two periods and just didn't come out to play in the third and that cost us the game." - Jack Combs on his play

"I think our forecheck wasn't great tonight because we didn't have enough speed. We have to make safe plays with the puck and eliminate the costly turnovers." - Jack Combs on what he felt went wrong

"There were some chances but chemistry isn't born in 24 hours, so I'm looking forward to getting some practice with the guys and getting a win on Saturday." - Jack Combs on building chemistry with line mates

"Like I said before, it's in the back of my mind and I really want to just get it over with. Obviously, if I'm able to generate some secondary scoring for the team, then that puts us in a good spot to win games, which is the ultimate goal. It would've been nice to get the record out of the way at home there when my parents were in town but I'll have to do it on the road now." - Garet Hunt on getting within a point of tying the record

"I don't know, I just have to keep shooting the puck. They don't have to be pretty. They can be like tonight, just getting in the right spot and getting my opportunities." - Garet Hunt on if he can catch Lalonde's goal record
