Canucks Recall Jacob Markstrom from Comets; Comets Sign Pat Nagle to PTO

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have recalled goaltender Jacob Markstrom from the AHL Utica Comets. In addition, Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations Pat Conacher has announced that the club has signed goaltender Pat Nagle to a professional tryout contract (PTO).
Markstrom, 25, has compiled a record of 17-7-2 including four shutouts with the Utica Comets this season. Among AHL goaltenders, Markstrom currently ranks second in goals against average (1.95) and third in save percentage (.932). In 47 NHL games, the 6'6", 199 pound goaltender has a record of 12-27-5 with a 3.19 goals against average.
The Gavle, SWE, native was originally selected by Florida 31st overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Nagle, 27, has appeared in three total American Hockey League games this season, one for the Rochester Americans and two for the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Bloomfield, MI native earned both his first start, and first victory (5-1), for the Griffins on Jan. 23 versus the Utica Comets, turning away 29 of 30 shots. It was the first career AHL triumph for Nagle after spending time with the Syracuse Crunch (2012-13).In three AHL games this season, Nagle owns a 1.76 goals against average, alongside a 1-1-0 record and a 0.948 save percentage.
In 28 games with the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets this season Nagle owns a 2.35 GAA alongside a 0.910 save percentage and a 20-5-1-1 record. He has also appeared in one game with the Rochester Americans on Jan. 3, when he made 39 saves on 42 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Adirondack Flames. Before joining the professional ranks,
Nagle spent four seasons at Ferris State University from 2007-11 and accumulated a 2.32 GAA and a 45-42-11 record.
