Darling Earns Extension with Blackhawks

Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with goaltender Scott Darling, which runs through the 2016-17 National Hockey League season.
Darling, 26, has tallied a 14-8-2 record, including two shutouts, in 26 games with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs this season. The Lemont, Ill., native ranks 10th among active AHL goaltenders with a 2.20 goals-against average and sixth with a .927 save percentage. Darling has appeared in seven games with Chicago this year, posting a 5-2-0 record, .937 SV% and 1.97 GAA; he stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 2-1 victory on Oct. 26 vs. the Ottawa Senators in his NHL debut. Darling has registered a 27-14-2 mark in 53 career AHL games with Rockford, Milwaukee and Hamilton and a 17-14-1 record in 39 career ECHL games with Cincinnati, Wheeling and Florida. Darling was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the sixth round, 153rd overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft.
Next Home Game: Friday, Mar. 6 vs. Oklahoma City at 7 p.m. The IceHogs complete their season series with the Barons as Oklahoma City returns to the BMO for Rockford Hockey Club Night. Rockford will be recognizing youth hockey in the community by wearing specialty Rockford Hockey Club sweaters during the game.
