Spirit End Road Stretch With Win Over Frontenacs

The Saginaw Spirit travelled to the Rogers K-Rock Centre on Sunday afternoon to wrap up their four game road stretch. The Spirit took the ice against the Frontenacs and finished their weekend on the road with a 3-1 win over Kingston.
Spencer Watson of Kingston opened the game's scoring 58 seconds into the first period to make it a 1-0 game over Saginaw. Evan McEneny and Ryan Verbeek assisted the play. The Saginaw Spirit and Kingston Frontenacs each put 11 shots on the opposing team's goaltender, turning in a fairly even matched first period of play.
The Saginaw Spirit and Kingston Frontenacs played to a deadlocked 2nd period, with both teams unable to find the back of the net. Saginaw's starting goaltender Evan Cormier stopped 9 shots in the second period, while Kingston's Lucas Peressini turned away all 8 of Saginaw's second period shots.
The Spirit outshined the Fronts in the third, netting three goals in the last period to give way to a 3-1 win over the Kingston. Saginaw's Tye Felhaber struck first on his 16th goal of the season and tied the game 1-1 at 2:31 of the period, with the assist coming from Artem Artemov. Devon Paliani joined the Spirit scoring party and netted his 8th goal of the season at 4:23 with the help of Adam McPhail, allowing the Saginaw to take a 2-1 lead over Kingston. The Frontenacs pulled Peressini with 90 seconds left in the third period in hopes of tying the score and sending the teams into overtime. Saginaw's Dylan Sadowy took advantage of Kingston's empty net and put home his 36th goal of the season with 1:56 left in the period, sealing a 3-1 Spirit victory on the road. Final shots on goal favored Kingston 31-27.
The Saginaw Spirit return to the Dow Event Center on Friday, February 27th as they play host to the Ottawa 67's for Teacher Appreciation Night. Saturday the Spirit will take the ice against the London Knights at home for Faith Night. Both games are scheduled to begin 7:11 p.m.
