The Beast- which was outshot 43-19- pulled away by scoring the game's final four goals. After a shorthanded strike from the Mallards Justin Fox- on a 2-on-1 rush- tied the score at two at 3:48 of the second period Brampton rebounded to take command with back-to-back goals late in the second. With just 45 seconds left in the middle frame Donati doubled the lead with a wrist shot from the slot.
The Beast put the game away with third period goals from Wild- on a 2-on-1 at 7:50- and Ling- who capped off the win with a 5-on-3 power play goal from the high slot at 17:36.
Brampton, which never trailed, got off to a strong start with Wild's point-blank power play opener at 9:51 of the first period. It was the Mallards who were on the power play when Matt Duffy's blue line blast evened the score at one at 15:19 of the first but just a minute and 13 seconds later Steve Tarasuk's wrist shot from the left wing circle put the Beast back on top.
