TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (29-15-3-4) play their first of two games in three nights against the Colorado Eagles (33-16-0-2). This weekend's series represents a great opportunity for the Reign to catch the Eagles in the Pacific Division race, as both teams have played the same number of games, and Ontario sits just three points back of Colorado. Ontario sports a 5-4-2-0 record against the Eagles this season, and is 3-1-1-0 at Citizens Business Bank Arena against their opponent.
WHITE-HOT:
Reign forward Matt White continued his torrid scoring pace for the Reign with two goals on Saturday night, extending his season-high point streak to eight games (7g-4a).
BROWN GOLDEN IN SHOOTOUT:
Although rookie defenseman Dennis Brown is still in the hunt for his first professional goal, the Cypress, Calif. native is tied with Fort Wayne's Matthew Pistilli and Shawn Syzdlowski for the league lead with four. Of the three, Brown is the only one who remains perfect in the penalty shot contest, a perfect 4-for-4. Teammates Robert Czarnik and Gasper Kopitar aren't far behind either, each with three on the season.
KING OF HELPERS:
Tristan King's three assists on Saturday equaled a previous season-high for the forward, and now has nine points over the last seven games (1g-8a).
POWER-PLAY IMPROVING:
In the past three games, the Reign have converted on four of 17 power-play chances afforded to them, pushing them to an 18.4% conversion rate on the season. That has elevated them to ninth in the entire ECHL. Colorado, meanwhile, sits second in the league with 49 power-play goals on 226 chances (21.7%).
