Eagles Back at Home, Eying Second Place in the North

After a road sweep at Johnstown, the Soo Eagles return home this weekend, and hope to continue their push up the standings, as they face the Michigan Warriors, Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 7 p.m., at Pullar Stadium.

On Friday night, the Soo Eagle's will be honoring a squirt hockey team from Sault Ste. Marie, who recently won their district, and will be competing in the State tournament in March.

Both teams come into this series hot, as Michigan swept the Springfield Jr. Blues last weekend in Flint.

The Eagles are led in scoring by Sandis Zolmanis, who has 12 goals and 29 assists this season. Trevor Cope has 18 goals and 21 assists, while Keegan Miller is (15-21- 36).

The Warriors are led in scoring by Tyler Groat, who has 18 goals and 16 assists this season. Mitch Wedding has six goals and 20 assists, while Colin Horton has eight goals and 15 assists.

Chad Catt earned both victories last weekend for the Eagles, and is 2-0-0-0, with a goals against average of 2.40 and a save percentage of .906. Jack Berry is 12-10-0-1 on the season for the Soo Eagles, with a goals against average of 3.05 and a save percentage of .901.

Ryan Winchow is 11-9-2-1 for the Michigan Warriors, with a goals against average of 2.44 and a save percentage of .928. Chase Munroe is 0-2-0-0, with a GAA of 4.70 and a SV% of .863.
