Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO - Feb. 20, 2015 - The Orlando Predators announced Friday that the franchise has agreed to terms with veteran defensive lineman Richard "Scooter" Berry. Berry earned Second-Team All-Arena honors in 2012 after tying an Arena Football League rookie record with 13 sacks.

"Rich is an exceptional pass rusher with an outstanding work ethic" said Head Coach Rob Keefe. "He is blessed with natural athletic ability, but performs at an All-Arena level because he is dedicated to perfecting his craft. I'm excited to add a player of his caliber to our defensive front."

Berry (6-2, 275, West Virginia) entered the Arena Football League as a rookie in 2012 with the Jacksonville Sharks. In his only AFL season, he registered 30 total tackles with 13 sacks, 12 stops for loss, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three quarterback hurries, two blocked kicks and one pass breakup.

Following the AFL season, Berry entered the Canadian Football League, where he spent two seasons playing for the Montreal Alouettes. Berry began his pro football career in 2011, signing with the NFL's Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent.

A native of North Babylon, New York, Berry played collegiately at West Virginia University, where he was a two-time All-Big East selection. Over his four-year playing career, he totaled 111 total tackles with seven sacks, 17 stops for loss, five pass breakups, four quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The Orlando Predators 2015 season opener against the Philadelphia Soul is scheduled for 7:00pm on Sunday, March 29 at the Amway Center in downtown Orlando. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 844-455-PRED (7733).
