RubberDucks Announce Mascot Auditions & National Anthem Tryouts

(AKRON, OHIO) Feb. 19, 2015 - The Akron RubberDucks are seeking talented individuals who love entertaining to try out for a chance to be one of the team's official mascots for the 2015 season and try out for the opportunity to sing the national anthem before home games.

For a chance to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at one of the RubberDucks 71 home games, candidates will need to impress three local music professionals and educators in addition to the RubberDucks staff.

"Our mascots are an important part of the experience at Canal Park," said promotions coordinator Christina Urycki. "We will be looking for energetic, fun-loving people who love nothing more than to bringing smiles to fans' faces!"

Mascot Auditions Details:

What: Tryouts for the RubberDucks three official mascots-"Orbit" the space cat, "Homer" the inflatable pigeon, or "Webster" the duck.

When/Where: Tuesday, March 10 starting promptly at 5:30 p.m. Candidates should enter through the main administrative office entrance located at 300 South Main Street. Candidates should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to audition.

Prior mascot experience is strongly preferred.

National Anthem Auditions Details:

What: Tryouts to sing the "Star-Spangled Banner" at one of the RubberDucks' 71 home games in 2015.

When/Where: Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Canal Park. Candidates should enter through the main administrative office entrance located at 300 South Main Street. Candidates should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to sing outside on the concourse over Canal Park's public address system.

-PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED- Call the Akron RubberDucks office at 330-253-5151 during normal business hours (Mon.-Fri., 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) to reserve a time slot.

Day-of-Event: Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to their secured-time slot and be ready to sing.

Professional Choral and Voice Judges: Local music professionals and educators

Auditions will be cut off after 90 seconds. No tapes or recordings are required nor will be accepted.
