Machine Promotes Assistant Coaches
February 19, 2015 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Ohio Machine News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO (February 19, 2015) - The Ohio Machine has promoted Tom Mariano to associate head coach & director of player personal, it was announced today by Machine Vice President & Head Coach Bear Davis. Additionally, the team promoted Dom Marzano to assistant coach & operations manager.
"The transition for both Coach Mariano and Coach Marzano to their new roles should be seamless," Davis said. "Coach Mariano has already played a key role in identifying players in the supplemental and collegiate drafts, as well as in trades, that have led to significant production on the field. His new title now reflects the work he has already been doing."
Mariano joined the Machine on June 26, 2013 as the team's assistant coach and defensive coordinator. In his new role, Mariano will continue to oversee the team's defense while adding the responsibility for all player acquisitions, trade negotiations and player movement. Mariano led the team's efforts in the 2014 and 2015 MLL Supplemental Drafts as well as the team's 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft. Mariano is currently the head coach at Pace University and previously spent 17 seasons as the head coach at Sacred Heart University.
Marzano enters his second season with the Machine in 2015. Marzano is the team's primary video coordinator and is responsible for coordinating the team's video scouting reports on upcoming opponents and players. He also is responsible for all in-game substitutions. In his new role, Marzano will coordinate all equipment and uniform orders and will work with the team's director of operations in planning and coordinating training camp, road games and home stands. Marzano is currently the head coach at Wilmington College.
"Coach Marzano has taken our video scouting to a level we did not have before his arrival," Davis said. "His work with our staff and players helps prepare us to the upmost level. If you ask any player on our team, the work Coach Marzano puts in is second to none. I am very happy his new title now equals the work he has put in for over a year."
Season tickets for the Machine's 2015 season are now on sale and range from General Admission at $92 to a Field Level Box at $2,400 and include seven regular season home games plus a 2015 MLL playoff game.
