Mavericks Topped 4-2 by Rush

INDEPENDENCE, MO (February 18, 2015)- The Missouri Mavericks took a 4-2 loss to the Rapid City Rush on the road in Rapid City, SD on Wednesday night.
The Rush took an early lead when they scored twice in the first 3 minutes of the opening period, first with defenseman Mathieu Brisebois making a mark only 44 seconds into play, assisted by Kale Kerbashian and Cody Ferriero. Justin Faryna doubled the Rapid City lead 2-0 at 2:16, aided by Dylan Clarke and Kevin Harvey.
The Mavericks made their move just 2 minutes later when Lindsay Sparks lit the lamp on the power play to cut the Rush lead in half 2-1. Jack Downing and Patch Alber were credited with the helpers on Sparks' 12th goal of the season. Dylan Clarke answered back at 7:26 with a short-handed goal assisted by Winston Day Chief.
Mavericks forward Jared Brown scored the lone goal of the second period to bring the Mavs within one goal of the Rush with his own short-handed goal 3:05 into the period. Martin Lee notched the assist on Brown's 9th goal of the season for Missouri.
The Mavs stayed within one goal of the Rush 3-2 through almost the entire third period, until the final second of regulation, when Patrick Cullen scored an empty net tally to bump up Rapid City's lead 4-2 at 19:59..
