Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Grand Rapids, MI--Andy Miele scored two goals to lead the Grand Rapids Griffins to a 4-3 overtime win over the Admirals Wednesday night.
Miele scored a 6-on-4 power play goal with 0.4 second remaining in regulation to force the overtime. In the overtime session, Miele stood near the crease and redirected a shot from Xavier Ouellet past Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg for his 17th goal of the season to win the game.
The Admirals did earn a point in the standings and maintain the lead in the Midwest Division with 66 points. Second-place Rockford has 64 points and third-place Grand Rapids has 62.
The Griffins got on the board with their second shot on goal. Martin Frk fired a wristshot from the left circle over the right shoulder of Hellberg for his second goal of the season at 3:53 of the first period.
Milwaukee tied the score at 19:07. Viktor Arvidsson was able to knock a puck loose behind the Griffins net. The Griffins defense couldn't clear and Colton Sissons was able to push it toward the goal where Rich Clune's first backhander was stopped. However, his second wasn't. Clune's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Sissons and Arvidsson.
The Admirals grabbed a 2-1 lead at 4:51 of the second period. Arvidsson moved the puck from the left corner to the left point for Garrett Noonan. Noonan found a lane and sent a shot on goal which Sissons deflected into the net for his team-leading 19th goal of the season.
Grand Rapids tied the game when a Jakub Kindl shot from the right point found its way through traffic and past Hellberg at 15:28 of the second period.
Kevin Fiala helped the Admirals reclaim the lead at 3-2 with his fifth goal of the season at 17:17 of the second period. Fiala corralled the puck behind the Griffins goal and drifted above the goal line to the right circle, spun and shot the puck into the net. Triston Grant and Mike Liambas notched the helpers.
Milwaukee's returns to the BMO Harris Bradley Center to host Iowa Saturday night at 7pm.
