Saints Welcome Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Friday's Game

February 18, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, IA- Cowabunga! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to the Dubuque Fighting Saints game on Friday night and fans will have a chance to meet the "Heroes in the Half Shell." All four crime-fighting turtles, Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo will be in attendance to help the Fighting Saints battle the "evil" Muskegon Lumberjacks at 7:35 p.m.

The witty, pizza-loving superheroes have ascended from their sewer hideout to join the Fighting Saints Friday night. The turtles will be prevalent in the arena, meeting with fans, participating in contests and fighting crime.

Special VIP packages are available for an exclusive meet-and-greet with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The private pre-game session includes a chance to have your photo taken with the four Ninja Turtles, as well as a cupcake for each child from J&D Catering. The cost is $5 per child for the special event, which begins at 6:45 p.m. Season Ticket Holders may purchase the pre-game meet-and-greet for only $3 per child with a private session that begins at 6 p.m. Space is limited, so parents are advised to call 563.583.6880 to secure a spot for their child. Parents are also encouraged to bring their cameras to capture the memories.

On Friday, one fan will be chosen to participate in a "Pick-a-Shredder" contest. One bad turn, and the Ninja Turtles may have to duel with their arch nemesis, Shredder. Fans will select from different images of various other types of shredders to reveal what's hidden behind them. They could hit the jackpot and win a prize, or force the Ninja Turtles into battle.

In the second intermission, there will be a "Build-a-Pizza" contest where two of the turtle's favorite "dudes" will make a giant pizza on the ice. Michelangelo has warned the contestants that the pizza must have, "No anchovies! You put anchovies on this thing and you're in big trouble, okay?!" Contestants will also be timed, because it's a well-known fact that the Ninja Turtles never pay full price for a late pizza.

There will also be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Dance-Off, and a chance for a fan to showcase their knowledge of the different renaissance periods and the famous artists the turtles are named after.

On the ice, Friday's game is an important matchup for the Fighting Saints as they trail Muskegon in the Eastern Conference standings by just three points. Dubuque currently boasts a seven game winning streak on home ice.

The game also marks a Hy-Vee Fuel Saver Friday night, meaning the more the Fighting Saints score, the more fans save. For every goal the Fighting Saints score Friday, those in attendance receive 5 cents off per gallon of gas. All fans have to do is sign up for Hy-Vee's Fuel Saver program, and bring their ticket stub by this Sunday to any Dubuque Hy-Vee location to have the savings applied to their Fuel Saver Card.

Tickets are available to Friday's game by calling 563.583.6880 or online at DubuqueFightingSaints.com. Friday's game is the first of three this weekend for the Fighting Saints. Dubuque visits Des Moines on Saturday, but return home Sunday afternoon to host Prairie Farms Cowbell Cup rival Cedar Rapids at 3:05 p.m. Sunday is Mascot Mania presented by Victory Ford. The game features the TH Media Family 4 Pack special available starting at just $48 and a post-game "Skate with the Saints" where fans are invited to take the ice with the players.
