Earthquakes Announce Contest to Crack the Code in the Seat Pattern at Avaya Stadium
February 18, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they have begun accepting submissions for the Crack The Code contest. The seats at Avaya Stadium were fabricated in three different shades of blue in addition to a handful of red seats. The pattern created by the different colored seats contains a coded message related to the club.
Fans are encouraged to submit their answers for the coded message through the team's website. The contest winner will be the first person to submit a correct answer, while including a description of how they determined the answer. The winner will receive a trip to Russia for the 2018 World Cup Final, including round-trip airfare for two, a three-night hotel stay and two tickets to the World Cup Final.
Submissions are currently being accepted at: http://www.sjearthquakes.com/content/earthquakes-crack-code-contest.
The design for the multi-colored pattern was inspired by numerous stadium color patterns around the world, including World Cup venues. The blues represent the club's current colors, while the red seats pay homage to the North American Soccer League Quakes, who played from 1974-84.
