February 18, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

It's a busy weekend ahead for your Oshawa Generals who will play three games in three days. The first, a road game in London, and the next two on home ice at the GM Centre. To purchase tickets to any of our home games this weekend, click here, visit the GM Centre Box Office, or call 1-877-436-8811.

Friday, Feb. 20 | @ London Knights - 7:30 P.M.

The first game of the weekend takes place on the road when the Generals travel to London to take on the Knights. This is the second time that the Generals and Knights will meet this season. The Generals last played the Knights on Jan. 25 at the GM Centre, when they took the win 6-3. The game was a fast paced, hard hitting game, which featured dozens of penalties, and a handful of game misconducts. This same intensity will be seen on Friday when both teams fight for a win. The Knights (32-20-0-3) continue to occupy the third place spot in the Western Conference, sitting 13 points behind the second place, Erie Otters. This East-West matchup between two of the top teams in the OHL is sure to be a great game. You can listen live by clicking here, or follow along with us on Twitter @Oshawa_Generals.

Saturday, Feb. 21 | vs. Kingston Frontenacs - 7:05 P.M. | Pucks 4 Heart

Saturday is our third annual Pucks 4 Heart game, presented by Winmar in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation and is a one that you don't want to miss! Former General, Brett MacLean will be in the building for puck drop and the Heart & Stroke will pass the bucket, allowing you to make donations to this very worthy cause. Our players will be sporting commemorative jerseys during the game which will all be auctioned off, with proceeds supporting the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Bidding will begin at the beginning of the game and will continue for exactly one week. Jerseys will be signed by their corresponding player and start at $150. To learn more about the Heart & Stroke Foundation, click here.

Aside from supporting a great cause, you'll also get to see the top ranked team in the CHL live. The Generals managed to find their first win over the Frontenacs just last Friday, defeating the Fronts 7-1 in an action packed game. Despite the recent win, the Generals have lost four of their five games played against the Frontenacs this season and will have to work hard to secure their second win over this Eastern Conference rival. The Frontenacs (20-24-5-3) are holding the seventh place spot in the Eastern Conference and players like Robert Polesello, Evan McEneny, and Lawson Crouse are all making a huge impact for their team. These two teams have put on quite a show in all of their meet ups this season, and Saturday should be no exception.

Sunday, Feb. 22 | vs. Ottawa 67's - 2:05 P.M. | Timbits Jamboree

The action continues into Sunday when the Generals meet the Ottawa 67's for an afternoon matchup. Sunday's game is presented by Tim Horton's and this game honours Timbits hockey players, who will enjoy a fun fair and the chance to meet all of our players following the game. Both of our intermissions will feature Timbits mini games, a fan favourite at our home games.

The oppontent on Sunday is the Ottawa 67's (31-20-2-1), who have moved steadily up the OHL rankings since the beginning of the season, now sitting at fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Dante Salituro is lighting things up for the 67's, scoring 65 points (32 goals, 33 assists) in 54 games. Right-winger, Travis Konecny is second in scoring for the 67's with 55 points (24 goals, 31 assists) in 51 games. Kocecny represented Team Orr at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game held in January. The Generals have won all four previous matchups against the 67's this season, taking a 3-0 win on Oct. 3, a 4-1 win on Oct. 12, a 7-1 win on Oct. 13, and a 5-4 win on Jan. 27. Come out and watch the Generals try to find their fifth win over the 67's on Sunday.

The Generals

The Generals continue to keep fans in awe as they wrack up points in each game they play. The Generals are on a five game win streak and look to keep this pattern alive in the weekend ahead. Michael McCarron currently holds the longest point streak in the league with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in seven games played. In addition, Hunter Smith is on a five game point streak, scoring seven goals and two assists for nine points in his last five games played. Aidan Wallace has had a stellar performance in his last two games, scoring two goals in each game. With four points in his last two games, Wallace will be eager to put a few more goals past opposing goaltenders this weekend. Michael Dal Colle is listed as the ninth top scorer in the league, totalling 82 points (36 goals, 46 assists) in 82 games. In his last four games played, Dal Colle has posted 11 points, notably scoring two goals in each of his last two games played. Finally, Jeremy Brodeur recently picked up his third shutout of the season in the Generals 7-0 win over the Sudbury Wolves and Ken Appleby is holding strong with 35 wins and five shutouts this season. Michael McCarron and Cole Cassels are both set to return to the Gens line-up this Saturday following two game suspensions given to both players following last Friday's game in Kingston.
