Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI--The Admirals took an early lead Tuesday night, but three straight goals by Lake Erie led to a 3-2 loss to the Monsters at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

The Admirals struck first in the opening period when Colton Sissons got behind Lake Erie's defense and received a great pass from Kevin Fiala. Sissons then fired one right in front of the crease past Calvin Pickard to give the Ads a 1-0 lead 12:04 into the game.

Lake Erie answered right back and tied the game 1-1 on the man advantage when Joey Hishon positioned himself just outside the crease and snuck one past Marek Mazanec with 5:22 left in the first period.

A Michael Schumacher blast during 4-on-4 play beat Mazanec to put the Monsters up 2-1 with 6:14 to play in the second period.

Lake Erie extended their lead to 3-1 at 5:15 in the third when the Admirals turned the puck over near the red line allowing Kenny Ryan to skate unopposed into the Admirals zone and beat Mazanec for a shorthanded goal.

It was the fifth shortie allowed by the Ads in their past eight games, after giving up just one in their first 43.

The Admirals cut the lead to 3-2 with 2:05 remaining in the game when Taylor Aronson fired a shot on goal from the blue line that hit Sissons and a wild scrum ensued in front of the Lake Erie net. Mark Van Guilder eventually found the loose puck and chipped it by Pickard for his seventh goal of the season.

However, the Ads were not able to capitalize in the final two minutes and fell to the Monsters 3-2.

The Admirals will travel to Grand Rapids to play the Griffins tomorrow at 6 pm CT before returning home on Saturday February 21st at 7pm to play the Iowa Wild at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
