February 17, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
Orlando, FL - Forward Braden Pimm registered three assists, all in the third period, and forward Andrew Rowe buried the game-winning tally with under three minutes to play to lift the South Carolina Stingrays (25-18-1-6) over the Orlando Solar Bears (24-19-3-0) 4-2 at the Amway Center Tuesday night. The win extends the Stingrays' winning streak to a season-high seven games.
The Solar Bears broke the scoreless tie 22 seconds into the second period while on the power play as forward Carson McMillan slipped a shot under the blocker of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (W, 30 saves on 32 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle. The Stingrays responded just over two minutes later when forward Rob Ricci knocked a loose puck past Solar Bears netminder Garret Sparks (L, 39 saves on 42 shots) at 2:31. Forward Rob Bellamy added the lone assist. Solar Bears forward Brett Findlay made it 2-1 at 4:54 catching a pass from former Stingray Stefan Della Rovere and moving it past a sprawling Jakaitis.
Stingrays defenseman Drew MacKenzie knotted up the score early in the third period rifling a shot over the shoulder of Sparks at 4:33 with help from Pimm and Rowe. With the clock winding down, Pimm found forward Derek DeBlois behind the net who quickly shuffled a pass over to Rowe between the faceoff circles to bury the game-winning marker with 2:42 remaining. DeBlios sealed the victory with an empty-net tally at 19:19 from Pimm. The Stingrays finished the contest 0-for-2 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 1-for-4.
The Stingrays square off against the Orlando Solar Bears tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida for crucial East Division standings points. Listen to all the action LIVE at StingraysHockey.com and ECHL.TV.
