Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals cut into a three-goal deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback as the Moose Jaw Warriors held onto the 4-3 win on Hockey Hooky Day.
The Royals, who were playing in their fourth contest in 90 hours trailed the Warriors 3-0 early in the second period. Regan Nagy, Brandon Fushimi (shorthanded) and Alex Forsberg tallied the markers for Victoria. The Warriors' goals came from Jack Rodewald, former-Royal Axel Blomqvist, Tanner Eberle, and Jiri Smejkal who netted the game winner.
Justin Paulic started in net for Victoria where he stopped 21 of 25 shots faced. Moose Jaw countered with netminder Zach Sawchenko who made 26 of 29 saves for the win.
The Royals were 0/300.0% with the extra skater, while the Warriors went 0/400.0%
Victoria will host the number two ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League the Kelowna Rockets this Friday and Saturday night. Friday's contest is Electric Car Night with puck drop slated for 7:30 p.m., while Saturday's game is Hockey for Hospitals and is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start.
