All-Star Outfielder Martinez Returns to RailCats for 2015

GARY, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats=9A have re-signed veteran outfielder Drew Martinez for the 2015 season.
Martinez, a 2014 American Association All-Star, was originally signed by the RailCats on April 12, 2013 after playing in 58 games between rookie ball and Class A in the Angels farm system, batting .259 with 19 RBI and 37 runs scored. He was 17-for-20 in stolen base attempts. Martinez was second team All-Conference USA at the University of Memphis in 2011, ranking third in the conference in runs scored and fourth in stolen bases.
During the 2014 season, Martinez hit .358 with 2 HR and 62 RBI in 100 games for the RailCats. The Collierville, TN native is a career .309 hitter with 3 HR and 134 RBI while playing all three outfield positions and being selected to his first American Association All-Star team. Martinez's father, Chito, was the first Belizean-born player in MLB and played three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles.
The RailCats open the 2015 season at home on May 21, 2015 against the Quebec les Capitales of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball.
