Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs fell 5-4 to the Sarnia Sting Saturday night in Sarnia.

Jordan Kyrou opened the scoring for the Sting 12:39 into the first period. Anthony DiFruscia answered for the IceDogs when he beat Sting goaltender Justin Fazio with a shot from the slot to tie the game 1-1.

Vince Dunn beat Fazio on a two-on-one for his 11th goal of the season to give the IceDogs a 2-1 lead 2:24 into the middle frame. The IceDogs held that lead until late in the second when Noah Bushnell tied it at 2-2.

The Sting struck three times in the first 7:46 of the third period to take a 5-2 lead. Carter Verhaeghe scored his 25th of the season to bring the IceDogs back within a pair of goals and Billy Jenkins added another with just over two minutes remaining. The IceDogs would pour on the pressure with the extra attacker but they just couldn't find a way to tie it up.

The IceDogs are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Windsor to take on the Spitfires for the first time this season.
