Windsor Express News Release

(WINDSOR, ON) The Windsor Express saw their 15 game home win streak snapped, as they fell to the London Lightning 93-91 at the WFCU Centre on Friday night.

The last time the Express suffered a defeat at home was Game 2 of last year's NBL Finals against the Island Storm on April 6th, 2014.

Windsor won Games 6 and 7 of the Finals, and the first 13 games of this season, setting an NBL record in the process.

London opened the game quickly, jumping to a 13-5 lead, before closing the quarter out with a 23-20 advantage.

Windsor took their next lead two minutes into the second quarter, when Kevin Loiselle's jumper made it 28-26.

Each team traded leads back and forth in the quarter, before coming to a 45-45 tie at halftime after Windsor outscored the Lightning 25-22 in the frame.

The third was much of the same; back and forth play with three lead changes and neither team able to build up a lead larger than four.

Windsor came out on top, up 68-67 heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter featured a little bit of everything, but the Express could not get over the hump when it counted.

The Express led 74-72 with 9:45 left in the game and that was the final lead they would have, as the Lightning pulled off a 13-3 run, capped off by Marvin Phillips' three pointer with 3:27 to go to make it 85-77.

It was Windsor's time to come back, turning the tide with a 14-6 charge of their own, tying the game 91-91 with 55 seconds left.

Jonathan Mills hit a free throw with 5.1 seconds left to give London a 92-91 lead.

On the next possession, Windsor turned the ball over and another free throw sealed the London win.

DeAndre Thomas led the Express with 23 points, while Kevin Loiselle had 10 rebounds and Tony Bennett dished out 8 rebounds.

Windsor now takes to the road for two games - the first in Mississauga on Tuesday, February 17th, followed by a visit to the Powerade Centre on Saturday, February 21st.

The Express next home game is Sunday. February 22nd against the Mississauga Power at 2:00pm at the WFCU Centre.
