February 13, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

VS. COUGARS : Tonight will mark the final time the Cougars will make the trip to the Hat in The Arena this season. The last time these two teams met was a few weeks ago, January 23rd, when the Tigers picked up a 5-2 victory. Dryden Hunt leads the way against the Cougars for the Tigers, playing in two games (1 with MH, 1 with REG) recording 4 points in those games.

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:

Prince George have only won 2 games since the 2015 calendar started, in the 19 games played they are 2-13-2-2 Tigers have 3 players in the top 10 of WHL scoring, Trevor Cox (1st), Cole Sanford (2nd) and Dryden Hunt (8th) Medicine Hat is 7-1-0-0 against the Cougars over the past 5 seasons, with a 4-1-0-0 record at home

Record (36-16-1-2). Central Div. - 1st Eastern Con. - 2nd

HOME (21-7-1-0) AWAY (15-9-0-2)

TIGERS FAST FACTS:

The Tigers are a balmy 5-4-0-1 in their past 10 games, while the Cougars sport a 1-7-1-1 mark Mark Rassell broke a 18 game pointless drought on Tuesday and recorded an assist on Wednesday to have his second 2 game point streak of his career Cole Sanford extended his point streak to 12 games in the defeat Wednesday, notching his 44th of the season Marek Langhamer allowed 6 goals on 25 shots Wednesday, marking only the 6th time this season the 20 year old netminder allowed 5 or more goals in a start (38 starts)

LAST GAME: The Tigers made their way for a date Wednesday with the Kootenay Ice on a back to back and the start of their 2nd game of 6 in 9 nights. The Ice would strike early just 59 seconds into the game, a sore spot for the Tigers as of late. It was an even period to say the least, with the Tigers best chances being shorthanded. The second period however was a disaster for the Tabbies as they allowed 5 goals in the frame, with the Ice scoring 2 goals within 22 seconds. The period would prove to be the nail in the coffin so to speak for the Tigers, despite a hard third period push back and goals from Chad Butcher and Markus Eisenschmid. The Tabbies will look to bounce back tonight against Prince George.

CHASING 50: Cole Sanford is chasing down a statistic that is becoming a rarity every year, the coveted 50 goal scorer. Every team wants one, every team loves to have one. Sanford is sitting on 44 goals heading into tonight with 17 games remaining. The last time a Tigers reached the 50 goal plateau was the memorable season Emerson Etem had in 2011-12 when he went 50 goals in 50 games and finished the season with 61 tallies. Curtis Valk was close the past two seasons recording 46 and 47 goals respectively, with the pace Sanford is on, he could break the 50 mark very soon.
